Writers Lab
Screenwriters
and writers-directors with a powerful synopsis, treatment or full draft script
broaden their narrative skills and craft while developing their
projects under the guidance of a wide variety of top script and
industry experts. Original, adaptations and commissioned projects are
welcome. This lab has the flexibility to respond to the
individual needs and voice of writers and their projects.
It
is marked by regular visits by international script consultants who
guide the projects from synopsis to treatment to first draft, or from
first draft onwards. Under their expert guidance, projects are analysed
by teams of participants.
Building on these workshops, a range
of activities helps to broaden the scope of the projects and to
increase the choices within the writers' grasp. Films are analysed for
structure, content and form. Workshops are given on genre, tone,
characterisation, dialogue and scene-writing. Improvisations and
readings provide writers with fresh insights and suggestions.
