Paz Fabrega wins VPRO Tiger Award
Last Friday, at the award ceremony of the International Film Festival Rotterdam,
Paz Fábrega won the prestigious
VPRO Tiger Award for her feature film debut
Agua Fría de Mar.The Tiger Award Jury said that the film ‘succeeded in telling the story of a mysterious relationship between a woman and a young girl in a convincing and poetic manner. The film takes the audience on an unusual journey trough a nature that interacts with people in a magical way. The superb editing ensures an organic flow of images, whilst the strong directing and disturbing atmosphere create tension.’
The VPRO Tiger Award consists of € 15.000 prize money which Paz can use for the development of her second feature film project
Todos Nosotros which she presented at the CineMart this year.
The international co-production
Agua Fría de Mar - shot in Paz’ homeland Costa Rica - is produced by
Temporal Films (Costa Rica),
Les Films du requin (France),
Tic Tac Producciones (Spain),
Isabella Films (Netherlands) and
Pimienta Films (Mexico) and was first developed at the Binger Filmlab in 2006 and continued at the Sundance Labs and TorinoFilmlab, that also awarded funding to the project.
