CinemAsia Filmlab: ASIAN COOL
CinemAsia, the Asian film festival of Amsterdam, organizes in co-operation with
Binger Filmlab ASIAN COOL; a pressure cooker lab for three film directors, making a short film in a challenging short time, just before the CinemAsia Film Festival starts. The films will have a special preview screening on
April 4 at Binger Filmlab.
More than 50 young filmmakers answered the
CinemAsia Film Festival’s call for entries to make a short film with an Asian connection. The jury selected three:
Loving Work by
Vivian Wenli Lin,
Beelden Van Een Andere Wereld by
Tati Wirahadiraksa and
Haari T by
Mels Kroon, Tjon Rockon and Hesdy Lonwijk.
The filmmakers receive a budget of 1.000 euro and their submitted scenarios are filmed on supervision of three experienced mentors, Yan Ting Yuen, Djie Han Thung and Doris Yeung and producers of the Dutch Film Academy.
On April 4 from 2 pm, the short films have a pre-screening at
Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and
The Asian European Film Maker forum hosted by Binger’s artistic Director
Marten Rabarts. Admissions for the screening and forum are free. On April 6 the films have their official world premiere at film theatre Rialto.
The third edition of
CinemAsia Film Festival takes place from April 2 – 13 at Film theatre Rialto in Amsterdam. With 40 productions, the festival is presenting a colorful program made up of Asian movies, short movies and documentaries, almost all shown for the first time at the festival.
