So You Think You're Funny?
For Dutch broadcaster
BNN humour is of great importance, considering their wide range of funny, sometimes even hilarious programmes. But things can always be better! That’s why BNN asked Binger Filmlab to invite comedy guru
John Vorhaus to come to Amsterdam for a lecture and master class.
John Vorhaus is best known as the author of
The Comic Toolbox: How to be Funny Even if You're Not. This seminal book on writing comedy for television and film is now in its third printing, and continues to be a definitive source of information and inspiration for writers from all over the world.
He also has a great reputation as a writer of successful comedies like
Married….with Children,
Head of the Class and many more. Besides that he shares his expertise in lectures and master classes as an international consultant in television and film script development.
On
Sunday, May 27 from
15:00 to 17:00 hrs, he will deliver a
lecture in Amsterdam film theatre
Kriterion in which he reveals the secrets of bringing humour into a script. In this two-hour lecture he will give an insight in writing comedy in the broadest sense of the word. Everyone who wants to see Vorhaus live in action on this Sunday can rsvp on:
humor@bnn.nl. The lecture is free, but limited seats are available.
In addition to the lecture Vorhaus will give a master class on 28, 29 and 30 May, called ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ to BNN comedy talent at Binger Filmlab. After three days Vorhaus claims every participant knows ‘how to be funny, even when they’re not’.
