How to apply

Doc Lab

Profile applicants: Doc Lab
Filmmakers applying for Doc Lab are expected to have previous documentary experience. They will be assessed on the video material submitted as part of their application. This material should demonstrate a strong directing ability including a sense of story and passion for the subject.

The projects must be at an early stage of development which enables the
filmmaker to usefully explore the subject and material from the base.
It is preferred that shot footage is available before the beginning of the lab. Projects submitted for development in this lab should demonstrate a coherent original story/subject with a (potentially) strong narrative, accessibility to an audience, relevance and viability.
Projects for Doc Lab must have a producer attached and preferably have initial development - or forthcoming - money in place.

Applicants should be able to make clear that they are at a stage in their career where they are looking to further refine their skills and techniques rather than looking for an opportunity to generally learn about documentary filmmaking.

The core group of Doc Lab consists of 8 documentary filmmakers (6 European, 2 non-European).
