About Binger
Binger
Filmlab is an Amsterdam based international feature-film development
centre where talented writers, directors, producers and script editors
from around the world can place both their projects and their usual
working practices within an inspiring environment of fellow
film-makers, to be coached and supported by internationally acclaimed
mentors and advisors.
Binger opened its doors in 1996 as
a post academic training facility for film professionals and now - in
these ten years - has matured into a challenging and unique film lab
with intensive five-month programmes that focus on the development of
projects and the individual talents that create them. In that time the
world film community discovered this rich resource and we've welcomed
to our global crossroads, film-makers from Western, Central and Eastern
Europe, Africa, The Middle East, Asia, Latin and North America, and the
Australia/ Pacific region.
In this first 10-year trajectory
Binger has also discovered its other natural allies in this work of
supporting the brightest emerging talents; the Sundance Institute and
its Labs in the US, The Nipkow programme residencies in Berlin, and
Paris' Cinéfondation (Cannes Film Festival) residence.
Binger is a lab in the truest sense in that we don't set out to tell film-makers what they should do but rather challenge them to look at the many choices and recognise the wide array of possibilities which are inherent in their stories and lie within the vision for their film.
Consider
5 months in Amsterdam; a place of refuge, discovery and transgression
since the Golden Age, Amsterdam is a place which helped inventing thinking outside the box. Binger Filmlab is uniquely situated in the heart of this vibrant city.
