Acting for Directors
&
One Day of Practice

Ground breaking acting coach Judith Weston is back at Binger Filmlab this April with her unconventional workshops that will help directors to deepen their communication with actors and inspire them to do their best work. While the workshop Acting for Directors is open only for applications from directors, the one day masterclass One Day of Practice is open to directors, actors, and screenwriters.

Judith Weston: Acting for Directors

A three-day workshop by Judith Weston

A crucial element of film production is understanding the process and requirements of performance. This unique workshop provides indispensable techniques and new insight to give directors confidence and develop their "eye"; to help writers take dialogue and structure to another level.

This three-day workshop for directors is set up as an acting class; each participant will engage in exercises using acting techniques, improvisation and monologues and two-person scenes provided by Judith. Judith will use the exercises to highlight and discuss principles, tools and techniques of directing actors. In particular she will address issues that arise in casting, rehearsal, shooting and script analysis.

Selection will be based on experience.

Judith Weston: One Day of Practice

A one-day masterclass by Judith Weston

The purpose of this masterclass is to put into practice the tools of Judith’s books DIRECTING ACTORS and THE FILM DIRECTOR’S INTUITION. The workshop is open to all filmmakers – directors, actors, screenwriters. It's a step-by-step approach to preparation and rehearsal, as well as guidance in solving a scene, working beat by beat, using the "through-line," troubleshooting actors' resistances, and making breakthroughs. Participants will be working on text in the morning and on scenes in the afternoon performed by professional actors and directed by three directors selected from the group.

Selection will be based on experience.
